Saskatoon HomeStyles Show 2017

The Saskatchewan Craft Council is partnering with Saskatoon HomeStyles 2017 (at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon, March 9-12, 2017) and Fresco Interiors to showcase Fine Craft to the HomeStyles audience. We will present two home spaces: a dining room plus an outdoor yardscape/patio. Working with the interior design team at Fresco Interiors Design Group Inc, our booths will demonstrate that Fine Craft can be easily integrated into everyday living. The booths will anchor the Main Stage and will be featured in two on-stage presentations. Given the timing of this event, we are soliciting existing work to feature in each of our spaces based on the attached sketches and colour palette.

Participating artists will receive:

  • Artist fees (dependent on the number of participants);
  • Delivery services for large pieces;
  • Purpose-designed promotional material;
  • Participation on the SCC HomeStyles web page;
  • Opportunity for sale of featured work (regular commission rates apply); and
  • Introduction to interior design professionals, home builders and Saskatoon and district consumers.

Applications are due January 24, 2017

Applicants must include:

  1. Clear digital images of your work
  2. Cross referenced image list that includes title, materials, approximate dimensions and pricing
  3. A twenty word description of each work
  4. Be a juried member in good standing with SCC

How Your Work Is Assessed (Based on notes from the meeting with the interior designer)

Applications are considered for originality, quality of workmanship and design excellence, but also for a diversity of media and a variety of products and price points. This is a themed project that showcases the functional and sculptural nature of craft in the home. Each of the two displays will follow a colour story and have a cohesive design sensibility. Attached is a colour story and space design that reflects the trends for Spring, 2017. Colour story includes: prussian blue to dark cobalt, chocolate brown, mirrored steel, taupe or light wood and black. Additional colours may be featured to augment this palette. SCC is partnering with Fresco Interiors Design Group Inc to help visualize the layout of these two spaces. Fresco Interiors will also take part in assessing work to ensure it fits with the specific design manifest. The SCC is open to all craft proposals.
