Saskatchewan Craft Council at the HomeStyles Show

“Dining Set” by James Hopper

The Saskatchewan Craft Council (SCC) and Fresco Interiors Design Group have collaborated on living space designs for the Saskatoon HomeStyles Home Show 2017. Situated on either side of the Main Stage Learning Lab, these showcases feature the work of Saskatchewan Fine Craft artists in the settings of a dining room and an outdoor living space. Visitors to the Homestyles Show will have an opportunity to explore how Fine Craft can contribute to making a home a place of self-expression. Over 70 pieces from 23 Saskatchewan Fine Craft artists will be featured. You will see works in wood, glass, textiles, photography, metal and ceramics. Pieces will be available for purchase at the Saskatchewan Craft Council’s Online Gallery Shop (saskcraftcouncil.creativefirebeta.com).

The collaboration arose through a discussion with Fine Craft artists, the Saskatchewan Craft Council, and the Saskatoon and Region Home Builders’ Association (SRHBA). “We are always looking for new opportunities to build audiences for our artists,” said Carmen Milenkovic, Executive Director of the SCC. “Saskatoon HomeStyles Home Show draws over 15,000 visitors. We look forward to introducing many of them to Saskatchewan Fine Craft.”

The purpose of the showcase is to demonstrate how Fine Craft can fit into our homes as works of art and everyday functional pieces. “We always like to support industry in the Saskatoon Region,” said Chris Guérette, CEO of the Saskatoon & Region Home Builders’ Association (SRHBA), “so a project that shows you don’t need to venture outside the community to find unique, beautiful items to complete your home seemed like a perfect fit for HomeStyles.”

Fresco Interiors Design Group was selected as the interior designers for the project which is coordinated by the Saskatchewan Craft Council. Visitors to HomeStyles Home Show can see the showcases at Prairieland Park beginning on Thursday, March 9 through to Sunday, March 12.
