Susan Robertson

Ceramic Artist Susan Robertson’s pottery has been making people smile for over 35 years. She believes that everyone should live with art they love and she designs her work to be truly useful and beautiful. Susan’s pottery reflects her love of colour and sense of humour, and is inspired by nature and the world around her.

She graduated from Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology, Applied Fine Arts, Ceramics, winning the Tree Pottery Award and the Artisan’s Craft Market/Melfort Craft Society Scholarship. Since then, her production and sculptural work has been exhibited in solo and group shows in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and British Columbia, Canada; and Minnesota, Ohio, Colorado and California, USA. Her sculptures have received special recognition in juried online International Art Exhibitions. Susan also has had the honour of having her piece, Stoney Plains Birches, included in Lark Books’ Best in Contemporary Ceramic Pitchers.

Since 1983, Susan’s Artistic Practice has grown from a traditional method of direct retailing through craft fairs and a few retail stores as well as exhibiting her one-of-a kind work, to selling her work through select stores across Canada and the United States. Her Practice centers around her production work which she designs for resale. Travelling to wholesale markets (Toronto Gift Fair; Craft East Buyers’ Expo; Alberta Gift Show), she has cultivated relationships with Sales Agents and Customers, and has built a strong reputation for quality craftsmanship and reliability. Susan continues to be
passionate about clay, and thrives on developing new designs for her customers.
