Affinity Gallery – Call for Exhibition Proposals
The Saskatchewan Craft Council (SCC) encourages innovation and excellence in Fine Craft and looks at gallery exhibitions as opportunities to experiment and explore. The SCC's Affinity Gallery presents up to eight exhibitions annually. Applications are accepted from craftspeople, curators and galleries for solo, two-person and group exhibitions reflecting craft history and current practice.
Process & Criteria
The Exhibitions & Education Coordinators along with the SCC Curatorial Committee assess all applications. Information from each applicant is sent to members of the Curatorial Committee prior to an annual review meeting where proposals are considered along with their support material. The Curatorial Committee acts in an advisory capacity to the Coordinators.
The SCC looks for work that will contribute to and challenge the craft community. Curated or juried exhibitions are encouraged, especially for groups. Saskatchewan shows are balanced with about one out-of-province exhibition per year, which should be curated or juried. There is also consideration for representative balance in the craft mediums we exhibit.
Procedure
View requirements and procedures for exhibiting in the Affinity Gallery, or by contact Les or Steph at 306.653.3616, ext. 25 or email: scc.exhibitions@sasktel.net.
Applications should include high quality digital images, a concise exhibition description or proposal and CV's of participants. Additional support material should minimal, but could include recent reviews or other relevant information about the applicant(s).
All exhibitions must be curated or juried. The SCC will be responsible for curatorial decisions including the selection of curators and jurors. Submissions should be addressed to the Exhibitions & Education Coordinators and received by November 15 each year.
