Miranda Jones
Although I am primarily a painter, my focus has recently shifted away from two dimensional works into coloring, fabricating and blacksmithing sculptural pieces with mild and stainless steel. I am particularly drawn to metal because it is shiny, strong and flexible. These are all qualities I strive for in my own life. The result of playing with such a challenging new medium is a richer, more stimulating art making experience.

My subject matter derives from nature, and from stories and events which come into play as fragments. I like to play with these like pieces in a jigsaw puzzle, creating sometimes unexpected juxtapositions and combinations which give each other new meaning.
