For many years I took pride in my work as a professional cabinet-maker. However, twenty-one years ago, after taking a class at the local high school and reading many books on the topic, woodturning became my creative outlet. Each winter I venture into the forest in search of birch and maple burls and other interesting pieces of wood. The life and character of each piece placed on the lathe represents a new challenge. My goal as an artist is to incorporate ideas of oneness within nature by creating new forms that draw out the beauty of the wood and by incorporating different media (stone, metal, wood shavings) which will enhance that beauty.
