Wendy Parsons
Wendy Parsons holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Regina’s Fine Arts Department and a graduate degree from the University of Leicester, U.K.
Her current body of work focuses on the dichotomy between the realities of contemporary farming and the nostalgic reminiscences of a rural based population.
Through a series of large, high and low relief paper clay wall sculptures, she is examining our attachment to farm animals and the land. Reminiscent of the clay sculptures made during the funk movement by artists such as Robert Arneson, these narrative pieces are gently humorous,
A keen interest in large figurative sculpture has led Parsons to these wall reliefs that act as icons to rural Saskatchewan. They reflect our yearning for a kinder, simpler world.
