Lately, I have been able to devote the majority of my time to gestural sculpture salt vapor glazed and wood fired pieces. These pieces are highly dependent on form, clay body, and the whims of the firing. How the pieces are placed in the kiln, whether they are sheltered or exposed to the flame, determine the surface modulations, glaze depth and flashing patterns. Such pieces are powerful and quiet, slow to reveal themselves and require time and contemplation to fully enjoy.
