Emma Lake International Collaboration Auction

The biennial Emma Lake International Collaboration benefits the community and the artist by allowing them to creep outside the comfort zone, try new techniques and media, and push the limits of creativity and appreciation.

A unique component of “Emma” is the auction where the entire body of Collaboration work is sold to provide seed funding for the next Emma, and to support Saskatchewan Craft Council (SCC) programs. The auction is an opportunity for local and international collectors, and Collaboration participants to purchase master works. Jamie Russell, event coordinator, suggests the auction “encourages... bolder, freer pieces.”

Auction revenues have been used:

  • To upgrade workshop facilities at the University of Saskatchewan, Emma Lake, Kenderdine Campus,

  • To provide funding for SCC programs including gallery and traveling craft exhibitions, and

  • For the 2004 event, to subsidize emerging artisans, and to maintain an affordable professional development opportunity for mature artisans.

2004 Emma Lake International Collaboration Auction Proxy Bidding

Most collectors and buyers cannot attend the auction. In response, Emma offers a proxy bidding process giving you the opportunity to purchase unique, one-of-a-kind pieces made at the event. Ten (10) pieces will be selected for your bidding consideration. To view the images of the pieces that will be offered for auction, please visit the Auction Pieces page.

The Saskatchewan Craft Council will provide non-partisan personnel to bid on your behalf. These people will garner the “best deal” for their client, up to the maximum instructed by the proxy bidder. The Saskatchewan Craft Council will notify all bidders of the final outcome.
