What insect does a Blacksmith make?

NEW DATES - November 2, 3 & 4, 2007 CONEXUS ARTS CENTRE, Regina
Please contact Chris Jones for information.

WINTERGREEN 2007 Update
Attendance at Wintergreen in 2006 was 4,058 people (up from 3,153 in 2005). Significantly, 27% of shoppers reported they were attending for the first time. Our goal for 2007 is to get over 5,000 eager shoppers through the door. In order to do so, we will be making the following changes in the advertising and promotional strategy:

  1. We are increasing the advertising budget by more than 20% over last year. In addition, if we get over 75 marketers participating, we will use most of the additional booth revenue to increase the amount of ads we purchase. This advertising expenditure is possible, in part, because of support we have received from the Saskatchewan Cultural Industries Development Fund supported by Saskatchewan Culture, Youth and Heritage.
  2. We will be publishing a tabloid newspaper about Wintergreen. 10,000 copies will be distributed in restaurants, bars and shops in the two weeks prior to the sale. The cost of this is being partly paid for through advertising sales – if you or anyone you know is interested in purchasing an ad, contact Gale at 653-3616 ext. 23 or e-mail at scc.editor@sasktel.net.
  3. We are purchasing thousands of shopping paper shopping bags with the Wintergreen logo and date on the side. These will be distributed by the Girl Guides in shopping malls the weekend before Wintergreen. The bags will serve as advertising in the malls the week before our sale – and will also be good as “dollar off” coupons if brought to Wintergreen.
  4. As a trial, we will be sending a few hundred individuals who purchased raffle tickets at last year’s Wintergreen a complimentary ticket. This will be accompanied by a request that they bring a friend who has never before been to the sale.
  5. We will be re-establishing and promoting child care/children’s craft area on Friday afternoon and on Saturday to encourage parents to attend and shop at their leisure.

In addition to these new initiatives, we will be purchasing a wide range of advertising,  including billboards, posters, internet (on the Tourism Regina and Tourism Saskatchewan sites), newspapers, and radio. Last year’s buy on Z-99 proved successful in attracting new clientele, so we will be going with this station again this year, (including an “on-location” broadcast on Saturday). We will also be continuing with the “mudslinger’s challenge” that was so successful in generating free publicity last year.

Please remember: Last year 13% of all people who attended reported that the dollar off coupons were the primary reason they were aware of Wintergreen. All exhibitors have been supplied with these coupons. PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THESE TO YOUR FRIENDS, NEIGHBOURS AND CUSTOMERS. If you require more, please contact Chris at 653-3616 ext.  24 or scc.memberservices@sasktel.net.

Also: Getting more people in the door is one component to increasing sales. Increasing our sales effectiveness is another.  Our workshop in increasing your effectiveness at markets will be held in Saskatoon (Friday, September 28) and Regina (Monday, October 1). This high-intensity, custom designed workshop will help you transform traffic into income. There are limited spots available. Call Donna today at 653.3616 to register.
