ALERT READER OF THE WEEK

Congratulations to Cathryn Miller, the winner of the first "Alert Reader of the Week" award.  Each edition of the Saskatchewan Craft Council News will contain one strategically placed typo - see if you can spot this week's.  If you see what you consider to be a typo, send it to Colin Wallace, Publications Coordinator.

Last edition's typo was, "...13 students will visit the Kozmeniuk farm to meat their Icelandic Horses."
 

FEATURE NEWS OF THE  WEEK

Dimensions 2007 Jury/Critique Session: SCC Staff members, Les Potter & Judy Haraldson, are in Regina for the important Jurying/Critique stage of Dimensions 2007. The juror's talk at Public Critique session will be Saturday, March 31 in Room ED 114 Education Building, University of Regina from 10:00 am to noon. The jurors are Paul Sasso, Professor of Woodworking and Functional Design in the Art Department of Murray State University, Kentucky and Karen Schoonover, Curator/Director of the Art Gallery of Regina.

Potters Guild Workshop: The Saskatoon Potters Guild spring 2007 workshop featuring Cone 6 Oxidation Surface Decoration with Paula Cooley and Charley Farrero. The public reception and slide show is Friday April 13th and the workshop is Saturday April 14.

Artist's Talk: As a supplement to their current SCC Gallery exhibition, "Clay Inside and Out," Ken Wilkinson and Judy Tryon will present an Artist's Talk on Sunday, April 15, at 2:00 pm. Everyone is invited to discover the "story" behind the architectural ceramics, learn more about the processes used, and enjoy a question and answer time.

New Email Newsletter "SaskCRAFTchewan": We appreciate your patience as you eagerly await the first edition of the new Email newsletter, "SaskCRAFTchewan". Due to time commitments for the Sask Culture Funding Review and the EXPO 2007 artwork, the first issue of "SaskCRAFTchewan" has been delayed.  We plan to send out issue #1 within the next few weeks.  If you have not yet signed up to receive this larger file size newsletter, add your name to the e-mailing list here.

The Saskatoon Potters Guild Annual Spring Sale and Exhibition:

Sat, May 5th  9:00 am to 9:00 pm & Sun, May 6th  10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Location: Third Floor Loft, Albert Community Centre, Clarence Ave and 11th St. E., Saskatoon.

March 2007 Jury Session Results:

The weekend of March 24 to 25 was a tense time for applicants to the annual SCC Jury Session. In the end the jurors accepted 10 new Marketing Members so congratulations are due to the following:

B) Solo exhibition - Patricia Shiplett, Friday May 11, 2007
 
Patricia Shiplett wishes to welcome everyone after work on Friday May 11 for good wine and great food at The Rouge Gallery between 5:00 and 8:00 pm and of course to view her new works of sculpture in the solo show titled " Modernism". This reception is sponsored by Richard Matchett of Heagy Bailey Altrogge Matchett and Nicholas Stooshinoff of Stooshinoff Law Office. Rouge Gallery is located at 208 - 3rd Avenue South. C) Lieutenant Governor's Awards - Shortlisted Finalist for 30 Below Catagory - Megan Hazel was a shortlisted finalist for the 30 Below category for emerging artists under the age of 30. The awards ceremony was Wednesday, March 28 in Saskatoon.
