MAKE THE SCC WEBSITE YOUR HOME PAGE:

SCC Home page: What could be more convenient than having your Saskatchewan Craft Council website appear as your home page each time you open up Internet Explorer, Netscape or Mozilla Firefox? Here's how to make that happen:

  1. In IE (Internet Explorer) click the "Tools" button along the top menu bar
  2. Click on "Internet Options"
  3. At the top left of this box you will see an area labelled "Home Page," enter the following address in this box: http://www.saskcraftcouncil.org/. Click "OK".

You're done, that's all there is to it.

Some anti virus software may display a "Homepage Protection Alert," if so, simply select from the options "set homepage as http://www.saskcraftcouncil.org/.

SCC BULLETIN

New PDF Bulletin Online: The January 2007 edition of the SCC Bulletin is now available.  The printed version will be mailed to all members next week, but if in future, you would prefer to receive an email-only PDF version, and if you haven't already done so, please click here to request an e-mail Bulletin only.

The Bulletin will also be archived and downloadable from the password-protected Members Login section of the SCC Website. For more information, log into the members section of the SCC website, look in the "Resources/Bulletin" section. Your username is the first letter of your first name followed by your last name (for example, the username for Colin Wallace would be: cwallace), and your password is: scc.  Once you have logged in, we recommend that you change your password to whatever suits you, because until you change it, anyone else could log in as you!  If you have any difficulties with the log in procedure, please contact Colin Wallace at 653.3616, ext.23, or email: scc.editor@shaw.ca.


ARTS NEWS

New Amendments to the Saskatchewan Status of the Artists Act Proposed: In November, 2006 Glenn Hagel, Minister of Culture, Youth and Recreation (CYR), introduced legislation to amend the Status of the Artist Act.  The issues of collective bargaining in the arts sector was referred to a legislative committee, which will be holding hearings in February. OPPORTUNITIES FOR SCC MEMBERS

SCC Grant Writing Workshops: The Canada Council for the Arts (CCA) grants have a special fine craft peer jury for the spring selection session, so let’s try to get while the getting’s good! Saskatchewan Arts Board consultants and SCC member, Lee Brady, experienced in receiving and jurying CCA grants, will offer the benefits of their expertise in separate but equal sessions in Saskatoon and Regina.

Workshop details and registration information are available on the SCC website or from the SCC office.

Fees:  $30 for SCC members, $40 for non-members

Saskatoon: SCC Third Floor, Thursday February 8, 6:30 to 9:30 pm
Regina: Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre, Tuesday February 13, 6:30 to 9:30 pm

Fishing Lodge Project: The SCC will be marketing fishing or outdoors related work to Saskatchewan fishing lodges. Images of work must be submitted by January 26. Wine Goblets: The SCC will require approximately 100 wine goblets for the Fine Craft Auction. We will pay members $15 (wholesale) for each goblet purchased. Submit a picture of a sample goblet and the number that can be supplied to Chris Jones at scc.memberservices@shaw.ca by January 26. We will place orders amongst interested suppliers. Delivery will be required by February 25.

SCC Fine Craft Auction: TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE - CALL NISHA 653.3616. The deadline for submissions to this artist-friendly fundraising Fine Craft Auction (co-sponsored with the Saskatoon Community Youth Art Project) has been extended to 5:00 pm, January 22.
