Board of Directors

Rusty Kurenda

RUSTY KURENDA
Chair

One of the most important ways we view previous generations and civilizations is through the filter of their artistic and cultural craftsmanship. Perhaps that is why I am so proud to have been a member of the SCC since it's first day of inception.

I am pleased that I now have some time to support artisans in our province, and as a new board member, I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to it's continuing growth and development. I will do my best to represent the best interests of our organization and it's members. Thank you for the opportunity to do so.

I feel that I can be an asset to the SCC with my extensive board experience in other parts of Canada and the US, as well as my experience as a professional artist working on an international level from within Canada and the USA.

I became a member of the SCC in the spring of 2006--prompted by my 'love of the arts'! My appreciation started many years ago with a couple of small pieces. My art collection has grown mainly because of the quality of artisans that we have in the province. I have met so many special and talented people in this community. The happiness and enjoyment that I have received through these friendships and their work prompted a feeling to give something back. I felt the best way would be to dedicate the time and resources the SCC required to reach the next level.
